Abstract:
Fifty years have passed since the predictions of the existence of the Quark-Gluon Plasma, a high-temperature and high-density phase of matter, in which the colour charge of OCD becomes deconfined. I will recall some of major milestones in the history of the QGP, that led to the confirmation of those predictions and to the blossoming of a new field of physics: high-temperature QCD. I shall then briefly discuss some ofthe key aspects of the current state of the field, and discuss its future perspectives with the ALlCE 3 detector.

Speaker Profile:
Federico Antinori is a senior research physicist with the Padova Unit ofINFN, in ltaly He has been working in the field of ultrarelativistic nuclear colisions since the early nineties, giving important contributions both at the SPS, where he played a central role in the discovery of hyperon enhancements, and at the LHC where he was one of the main proposers of the idea of equipping the ALICE experiment with a Silicon Pixel vertex detector to measure charm production, and the first leader ofthe ALlCE Silicon Pixel Detector Project. He has covered several central roles in the ALlCE Collaboration, including those of Physics Coordinator (2012-2016)and Spokesperson (2017-2019). He is currently the National Team Leader for ALlCE in ltaly.
